Manuel Rui Costa

Manuel Rui Costa was born in Amadora, Portugal on Mar. 29, 1972. Played as an attacking midfielder of Portugal, Manuel Rui Costa was famous for creativity, speed, intelligence, movement, precise passing and diligence. He was listed into the FIFA 100 and the 125 greatest living football players by Pelé in 2004. When he was young, he started his training career aged five after playing on football fields for five minutes. Then he was inducted into training group of youth. As a representative of Golden Generation, Costa has won numerous accolades, titles and trophies, including the Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal, Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.

On the basis of outstanding performances on football fields, he began cutting a striking figure in the summer of 1991. In 2004, the Portugal national football team entered into final under help of Costa in Portugal football shirt. As a result, all his efforts and exercises were paid off though his whole playing career, scoring 26 goals in 95 appearances.
